Montgomery’s Young Professionals EMERGE

Leadership Montgomery has developed a new group for young professionals who represent diverse backgrounds and professions and are committed to personal and professional growth, recognizing them as the next generation of leaders. This new group, made up of professionals from a myriad of industries, is called EMERGE Montgomery. Focusing its energies on networking, volunteerism, public policy, personal and professional development, and economic development in the city, EMERGE Montgomery engages its members in activities that will keep them connected to Montgomery.

The goals of EMERGE Montgomery are to GROW professionals, CONNECT with the community, INTERACT with peers and VOICE opinions.

EMERGE Montgomery’s mission: As the organization to network, develop professionally and create partnerships, EMERGE Montgomery influences decisions that make Montgomery a desired location for young professionals to live, work, play and discover.

Professional Development Goals:
• Develop the next generation of leaders by providing leadership training through the Young Professionals Leadership Development Class.
• Provide monthly educational seminars with topics to include leadership development, goal setting, public speaking, estate and retirement planning and other topics of interest, in addition to presentations from key public officials.
• Educate young professionals about community issues and empower them with the necessary skills to affect community action.
• To recruit and retain young talent by partnering with local resources and developing mentoring programs and job opportunities for our best and brightest.

Community Goals:
• Support the Leadership Development class and participate in events as needed.
• Provide manpower for service projects and volunteer needs.
• Participate in city planning and provide opinions to affect action.

Networking Goals:
• Create a diversified base of monthly social and professional activities and encourage networking.
• Influence decision makers on acts/entertainment of interest to young professionals.
• Participate in the SMART Growth plan for the re-development of downtown Montgomery.

Opinion Goals:
• Provide educational programs on key political, legislative and city issues.
• Gain access to public officials and a platform to voice our opinions and effect change.
• Provide educational opportunities for members to learn about the process and responsibility of running for public office.
